Village of Patoka Arbor Day/Cleanup Day April 20 2011

The Village of Patoka participated in Arbor Day for possibly the first time ever.  The coordinator of this event was Village Treasurer, Annette McNicol.  She was thrilled with the turn out from the residents and is already looking forward to next year’s Arbor Day.  Several plants now grace the area around the Pete Basch Memorial Ball Park stone as well as the landscaping was thoroughly weeded.  Hostas and yellow day lilies will now add a touch of color to visitors watching the Little League play this summer.  A burr oak and a bald cypress were planted behind the outfield fence.   Dianthus and Blue Fescue decorative grass were planted in the new urns at the entrance to the Patoka Cemetery and hostas were added around the Village Hall flag pole. 

The following residents helped with the prep work, donations and buying of the supplies: Sean Cullip, Dennis Strang, Al Hinderliter, Luann Baldridge for the Fall Festival Committee, Tyson Murray, Luke Murfin, Cory Hassell, Jim, Janice and Annette McNicol. 

The following residents helped dig, plant, weed and pick up trash Saturday in this effort:  Village Board Trustee, Jeremy Landreth with his wife Theresa, & son Matthew, Mikey Hull, Clinton Donaldson, Jenna Cobb, Karla Rogers, Jean Brown, Lynn Eagleton, Dennis Strang, Mayor Stacy Hood, Patoka High School FFA President Shelby Cain, Jill McNicol, Cathy Cullip, FNB Assist. Vice Pres. Jay Jolliff, Suzy Walker, and Village Treasurer Annette McNicol.
